Self worth

This is such an amazing journey. Building my first website, has been a learning experience. Let me tell you, when you ask someone to build you a webpage, and they charge what feels like a huge sum of money, please trust me when I tell you it will be worth every penny. In fact, I bet they don't charge you enough. 

It really got me thinking about worth of self. So many people have a hard time asking for the money that their skills are worth. If a person has a skill I don't have, it makes it worth even more. Which of course got me thinking about how much a photo should be worth. I don't feel like I have a skill that is all that special or unique. I know about 500 people with a camera that love to take pictures. What makes me think I can sell my photos? These are the thoughts that kept me up all night last night as I sat in bed thinking about making income based on my passion. I've never had an issue asking for the money. It's why I'm so good at sales. But growing up poor, has made money a different thing to me. I know what it's like to want something nice and not be able to afford it. I don't want my pictures to be that. If someone loves my photography enough to want it, they should have it. But how to balance that with paying bills? 

What it seems to mean is that I either need to sell a whole lot of prints, or need to take more gigs that I don't necessarily love, but pay the bills. So how's that different than just working a job? It'll take more musings to figure out how to keep myself from just blending into the photographer scenery, but for now. I feel like I have a great thing going. I have art to offer to the world. Keep being the orange seashell my friends. Stand out. Be you. If you have something to offer your world, don't be afraid. Make your world a more beautiful place. Spread your love and joy. I promise you you won't run out. You can give it out all day every day.
